Martin Murphy 8th Graders Explore Future Careers Through Inspiring Career Panel

Martin Murphy Middle School’s 8th grade students participated in a Career Panel event designed to introduce them to a variety of professions, educational pathways, and career experiences.

Students had the opportunity to hear directly from an outstanding group of professionals who generously volunteered their time to speak about their careers, educational journeys, and personal experiences. The panel featured professionals from a wide range of fields, including medicine, nursing, aviation, firefighting, technology, law enforcement, finance, logistics, and higher education.

Guest speakers included a Stanford professor of medicine, an ICU nurse, a private pilot, a firefighter, a data analyst from NVIDIA, a program director from IBM, a UC Berkeley psychology student, a high school senior and podcast creator, a law enforcement professional, a former worldwide logistics director, and a banker.

Throughout the event, panelists shared insights into the paths they took to reach their careers, the challenges they faced along the way, and the skills and experiences that helped them succeed. Students were encouraged to ask questions, think about their own interests and strengths, and begin exploring the many possibilities available for their futures.

As a follow-up activity, students will participate in classroom reflections during SEL to consider what they learned and how they can apply those insights to their own academic and career goals.

Martin Murphy Middle School extends its sincere appreciation to all of the guest speakers who took the time to inspire and invest in our students.
