New for 2026: Student Personal Smart and Other Communication Device Policy

Morgan Hill Unified School District has established updated expectations for student use of personal smart devices, including cell phones, smartwatches and other internet-enabled devices, during the school day. The policy is designed to help reduce distractions, support student well-being and maintain safe, focused learning environments across our schools.

The guidelines include age-appropriate expectations for students in grades TK–5, 6–8 and 9–12, as well as exceptions for emergencies, educational purposes, documented medical needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
