Dear Mustang Families, 

 

Welcome back to school! Our students need your help this year! To continue to provide the experiences and traditions that students enjoy at Martin Murphy, our Home & School Club is in need of at least two parent volunteers to serve on the H&SC board for the 2023/2024 school year in order to continue to operate. H&SC board members serve our students by providing countless enrichment activities through their hard work, effort, dedication and fundraising efforts. If we cannot secure volunteers for our board for the upcoming school year, H&SC will be unable to assemble and serve our school community. 

Students have, and will continue to enjoy amazing opportunities ahead such as spiritwear, Mustangfest, haunted house, turkey trot, school dances, coordination of staff appreciation and holiday meals, and 8th grade celebration activities (Great America trip, dance & t shirts). In past years, we have used money raised to fund new extra purchases for the school and teachers’ classrooms. Past purchases include the digital marquee, the new bench for the nurses office, an ice cream social and snacks for students during state testing.

The Home & School Club holds board meetings at least once a month and we also host a public Home & School Club meeting with administrators and parents. As a board member, you would keep in contact with other board members regularly through email, texts and in person to plan and organize events. We coordinate parent volunteers through our email list and our facebook page for H&SC and school events as well.

It is very important to have an active Home & School Club for the entire Martin Murphy Middle School community especially for the students, teachers and administrators. H&SC meetings give a place for parents' voices to be heard and acknowledged. The Home & School Club members help by volunteering their time to make this school run more efficiently. This past school year has brought many staff changes, including administration. By being an active member of the H&SC board there are many opportunities to work with school staff which creates good working relationships to create a great school climate.
