Martin Murphy Black Student Union EST. 2020

The Black Student Union (BSU) is a Club that advocates and discusses the needs of Black students at Martin Murphy Middle School, while empowering, teaching, discussing and exploring the Black experience. BSU serves as a liaison between students of African descent and other minorities at the campus. As a BSU we have elected officers including a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian. We do activities such as fundraisers, movie nights, Design BSU apparel, create allies with strong Black Leaders within our community and create opportunities for education, growth and fun. The BSU is a student driven Club that is facilitated by BSU Advisors Ms. Julia and Mrs. King. The Black Student and Parent Network (BSPN) also support the BSU.

The BSU meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3PM.

Martin Murphy Black Student and Parent Network

The Black Student and Parent Network (BSPN) was founded to further EMPOWER Black students and families through the creation of a network of allies at Martin Murphy Middle School. In this Network of students and parents, we discuss empowerment, equality, unity, success and challenges. The BSPN Advisors very often recruit and facilitate guest speakers to attend our meetings. Our guest speakers include, Black Leaders in our community, Athletes, Authors, Thespians, Directors, CEO’s, Etc.. We focus in the empowerment of Black individuals and giving the opportunity to students and families to unite and grow through his network of allies. The BSPN also supports the Black Student Union (BSU). 

The BSPN meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:30PM-7:30PM
